JUST IN: New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern has confirmed a travel bubble with Australia will be announced on 6 April 2021. The fixed commencement date, expected to be sometime in the first quarter of 2021, will be announced once details are locked down by New Zealand authorities.
Speaking at her last post-cabinet press conference for this year, Prime Minister Ardern said Cabinet had agreed in principle to establish quarantine-free travel between the two countries.
The opening of the bubble will be contingent on Australia’s Cabinet signing it off, and the COVID-19 situation in both counties remaining as it is now.
