American Express launches all-metal Gold Rewards Card

Serving up an array of dining, travel and lifestyle rewards, the American Express Gold Rewards Card has launched in New Zealand.

Available in a choice of classic gold or rose gold, this new product is designed to reward restaurant spending, while supporting the local hospitality sector.

The all-new, all-metal Card is available in a choice of classic gold or rose gold.

Here are five compelling reasons to put the American Express Gold Rewards Card at the top of your list.

Access up to $200 in Dining Credits

As one of the only dining-focused credit cards in the market, the American Express Gold Rewards Card offers up to $200 in dining credits each year, eligible to be used at American Express Local Dining Collection restaurants.

It works like this: Spend $100 or more, in one transaction on your American Express Gold Rewards Card at a participating Dining Collection restaurant and receive a $100 credit. The offer is valid up to 2 times a year, once per defined calendar period. That’s up to $200 back each year.

So where can you dine?

When it comes to eligible restaurants, you’ll be spoiled for choice. At the time of writing, there are 57 participating restaurants in the North Island, including 50 just in Auckland. The South Island boasts 17 participating restaurants, including 11 in Otago.

American Express Gold Rewards card dining options

The selection includes top-rated eateries across Aotearoa such as Ben Bayly’s acclaimed Ahi, the seasonal and soulful Alma, Hopgoods & Co. as well as Aosta in Arrowtown.

Simply by using the dining benefit in full each year, it’s possible to fully offset the cost of the $200 annual card fee.

Enjoy a $200 Statement Credit

New Card Members who apply, are approved and meet the minimum spend of $1,500 in the first 3 months, will also receive $200 back, in the form of a statement credit. T&Cs apply.

Earn piles of points

When it comes to ongoing benefits, earning points is what this card is all about. Even if a trip isn’t yet on the radar, choosing a card with a generous rewards scheme could help you unlock future travel.

With an earn rate of 2 Membership Rewards points per dollar spent, The American Express Gold Rewards Card delivers Amex’s fastest earn rate on purchases.

This generous earn rate helps savvy cardholders to rack up rewards over time, and it’s the number one reason an American Express Card could be a ‘keeper’ in your wallet for the long term.

Let’s look at the value in real terms.

If you spend $2,500 per month on eligible everyday purchases with your card, you’d earn a cool 60,000 Membership Rewards Points per year.

As a ‘flexible’ program, Membership Rewards lets cardholders transfer points across to a range of partners, at a time of their choosing. Those points are worth a cool $450 when redeemed via American Express Travel, for 400 Airpoints Dollars™ when transferred to Air New Zealand or for 30,000 points or miles with leading airline programmes.

Best of all, all spend on American Express is ‘uncapped’ – meaning there’s no limit to how many Membership Rewards Points you could earn each month or year.
