While we love the luxury of five-star hotels, sometimes we crave the authenticity and the quirkiness of renting a property directly from a homeowner. Airbnb offers a range of properties around the world and the Airbnb referral program offers tremendous value. If you’re not yet a member, we recommend you give it a try.
Airbnb referral credit for new users (get an instant $50 NZD credit)
Did you know that simply by signing up through a referral link, those new to Airbnb can earn a $50 NZD travel credit? The credit can be applied to any new reservation of $100 or more.
Readers can sign up right now using our referral link. You could also look to use a link from a friend or family member who is already a member. Just hit the ‘Sign up’ button on the referral page and undertake the registration process.
Once you’ve registered, you’ll find that your Airbnb credit shows up automatically at the checkout page when you price up a qualifying reservation.
Using the Airbnb referral program as an existing site user
The Airbnb referral program is also open to existing Airbnb users, and it can earn you a significant amount of credit for future stays.
Existing Airbnb members get a $30 NZD credit each time they successfully refer friends and family to the site using their own referral link
If you already hold an Airbnb account, you can earn a $30 NZD credit when a friend or family member who signed up with your referral link completes a qualifying reservation as a guest. You could also earn a huge $100 NZD when they complete a qualifying reservation as a host. There is an overall ‘cap’ of $5,000 USD in travel credit that can be earned by both parties.
How to generate your Airbnb referral program link
To start earning Airbnb credit, head over to the Airbnb invitation page and follow the steps to generate your unique referral link.
How to use Airbnb referral credit
If you have available Airbnb referral credit, it will appear on the checkout page of your qualifying reservation. If you can’t see the referral credit on the checkout page, it means the booking doesn’t qualify. Note that you can’t use Airbnb referral credit to pay for a trip that has already been booked.
Airbnb referral credit expiry information
It’s important to note that Airbnb referral credit does expire. The credit becomes invalid one year from the date it was credited, so it’s important to keep a record of credit-earning timelines. Credits are also not reusable if you undertake a cancellation of a reservation where the credits were applied. Access to the full Airbnb referral program terms and conditions is provided here.
